See some of the recent activity and people that we work with in Casabet
Casa Betania started in 1995 and is a not for profit institution.
Its mission:
To promote integral development of the women.
Revaluate and promote the pre columbine art and design.
Generate employment for marginalised women of the zone.
Experience a new stile/type of democratic organisation/company.
This made possible the introduction of their products to the overseas market, initially they only sold locally in parishes, markets, festivals and universities.
By mid 1995 they joined the CIAP (Interregional Centre of Peruvian Artisans), also the GRESP (Economic solidarity Group of Peru) and other institutions that promote fair and ethical trade.
In 2004 Casabet SRL was legally established as an enterprise where the members are the workers.
They are proud of the brand and make sure their products are well received by their quality and finishes.
There are 14 women, 9 of them work permanently in the workshop and 6 more knit and embroider back in their homes. They make all the bags and purses, cushion covers, table runners, kids’ jumpers and hats. Their label is a feline animal of the Chancay culture north of Lima, often found in Pre-Columbian textiles.
